So, here I am. Wandering around in the rain. But smiling. Streets surrounded by history. Balconies having a story.
It is said that in World War II Hitler ordered to destroy Paris. But Dietrich von Choltitz, the general to whom the orders were given, stood on one of these balconies. Talking to the mayor of Paris. A girl on her bike in the Rue de Rivoli. Children playing by the bridges of the Seine. The Eiffel Tower glittering in the light.
"Image that one day it may be given to you to stand on this balcony again. As a tourist. To look once more on these monuments and be able to say 'I could have destroyed this, but I preserved it as a gift to humanity'.
Waaaw. And Dietrich von Choltitz decided to save Paris.
Thank you, Dietrich.

Sure everybody loves France - and Paris. Wonderful City with a lot of charme. Quite frankly: If the french weren´t there it would be my place to live.
